It is the staff members who love Jesus and want to splash some of that love on your child. It's the counselors who spend time with them in the quiet moments, the cook who serves with a smile, the worship leader who teaches them to praise, the Bible teacher who explains who God is and how He cares about them. Our staff is eager to greet your child this summer! To ensure your confidence in trusting your child to our care, we are licensed by the state of Texas and we voluntarily sought and received accreditation by the Christian Camp and Conference Association and the American Camping Association.
Our senior counselors are college students from across Texas who undergo rigorous interview, screening and training programs. Their service is an investment in their commitment to Christ and to your children as they set an example for fellow campers’ attitude, morale and character development. Each staff member is certified in CPR and fully trained in First Aid. Additionally, we have an on-site registered nurse staff member and a local Doctor is on call in case of emergencies.
We try to strengthen each camper’s sense of self; to grow their pride and independence. To this end, we encourage parents to support their children via our complimentary e-mail program, standard mail and pre-session package drop off. Additionally, family is invited to participate in their child’s experience in a virtual capacity through our daily picture post and blog!
The Forest Glen Experience!
The Forest Glen Camp and Retreat Center is a 286-acre independent Christian Camp and home to Camp Good News. Nestled in the Sam Houston National Forest near Huntsville, TX, we are conveniently located 1.5 hours north of Houston and approximately 3 hours south of Dallas/Ft. Worth. Our beautiful 24-acre lake separates our fully equipped North Shore and Lakeside Retreat campuses. Lodging features include restrooms, showers, central AC/heating and carpeting. Additionally, each campus has its own Jr. Olympic size swimming pool, dining facility, covered recreation pavilion and sports field.
Forest Glen is an ideal setting for novice and experienced campers alike. Nature also provides an ideal setting for communing with God and affording each camper the opportunity to witness God’s work and look for opportunities to involve Him in their life. Forest Glen has been in its current location for over 33 years and the Camp Good News program is over 42 years strong; maintaining an excellent safety record.
Forest Glen is a 501c3 non-profit organization, which enables us to offer competitively priced programs and our parents to maximize their budget at a premiere facility.
